Loop

THE LOOP METHOD

Small steps.
Your own rhythm.

Your home

Your name comes from your account. Today’s habits, completion bars, the 12-week heatmap and weekly overview use your saved activity. New accounts start with empty history. The Home streak counts consecutive calendar days with at least one completed habit; a pending today does not break it yet.

Create your habit

Open Habits → New habit. Choose a name, emoji, category, color, goal and unit. Use Every day, Selected weekdays, or Sessions per week. A weekly session means one completed day, with at most one session per habit each day. Weeks run Monday–Sunday. Up to 100 habits, including archived habits, can be saved.

Check in and undo

Press + to complete today’s chosen goal. Press the checkmark to undo completion. Open Update progress to save a partial amount or select a different plan. Repeated saves update the same daily record. Only the current local date can be updated in this phase.

Energy-Based Plans

Choose Low, Medium or High in Habits to set today’s pace. Unlogged habits use that plan’s goal. Existing progress keeps its selected goal; change it under Update progress if needed. Tomorrow starts on Medium. Home’s five-level energy check-in is a separate personal reflection, saved once per local date and editable that day.

Habit Rescue

On a difficult day, choose Use small step under Habit Rescue. This changes today’s target to the rescue amount while keeping progress already entered. Complete that smaller step to earn a completion. Low and Rescue completions count toward streaks just like normal goals; the saved plan records which goal you used.

Habit Stacking

Add a familiar cue, such as “morning coffee”, in the habit editor. Your habit then reads “After morning coffee → Read a little”. This is a visual prompt; it does not automatically complete or trigger another habit.

Streaks and history

Daily and selected-weekday streaks count consecutive scheduled completions; rest days are skipped. Weekly streaks count weeks in which you reach your session quota. An unfinished current week does not break the streak until it ends. Switching between weekly and day-based schedules starts a new streak measurement. Archived intervals are skipped by per-habit streaks.

Edit, archive and restore

Edit changes the name, emoji, cue and reminder immediately. Goal and schedule edits start tomorrow, preserving today’s goal and prior results. Weekly quota changes can affect the current week from that date. Once progress exists, the unit cannot change; create a new habit for a different unit. Archive stops future scheduling and retains history. Restore from the Archived tab to resume. There is no permanent deletion in this phase.

Reminders

Set a reminder time in the editor. Keep Loop open around that time to see the reminder. Enable browser notifications from Home if supported and allowed. These are foreground reminders only: closed tabs, sleeping devices and background throttling can prevent delivery. Email and background push reminders are not included yet.

Time and appearance

Settings lets you save Sage or Dusk and an IANA time zone. Asia/Karachi is the default. Other locations follow their daylight-saving rules. Existing activity keeps its recorded calendar date when you change zones; it is not moved to another date. At midnight refresh the page before saving. Emoji use the device’s native font: Apple emoji on iPhone, iPad and Mac; other devices use their own emoji.

Insights

Open Insights and select 7, 30 or 90 days, then Apply. The period includes today in your chosen time zone. Daily trends and habit comparisons count completions against scheduled opportunities. Weekly habits contribute daily opportunities until their quota is met, so this percentage is not a weekly success rate. Low and Rescue completions count, with their total shown separately. Archived history remains included. Energy comparisons use saved Home check-ins; missing check-ins are excluded, and small samples are flagged. Changing time zones does not relocate old records.

Calendar

Use the arrows to move between months or Today to return to the current month. Select a day to see scheduled habits and recorded progress. Today links to Habits for check-ins; past days are read-only. Future days show planned opportunities, never missed results. Weekly habits appear as possible days until their quota is met. Saved targets and schedule versions are used for history; names and colors reflect the current habit. Empty days show a dash. Calendar dates follow your selected time zone.

Journal

Open Journal to write one private entry for today, or choose a past date from 2000 onward. Add an optional title and mood, then write your reflection and press Save entry. Prompts offer ideas; they do not insert text or change your habits. Journal mood is separate from Home energy check-ins. Entries are not autosaved. An unsaved-changes warning helps when leaving, but save explicitly before closing, especially on mobile.

Search matches words in titles and reflections, with twelve entries per page. Open an entry to edit it. If another tab has already saved changes, Loop preserves your typed draft on screen and rejects the overwrite: copy your draft, reload the saved entry and merge your changes. Archive hides an entry without deleting it. Choose Archived entries to find and restore it. Calendar’s Reflect on this day link opens that date’s journal.

Only the signed-in owner can read or change entries through the portal. Entries are stored in the site database, not end-to-end encrypted; database administrators and backups may access them. Changing time zones does not move existing dates. Journal edits do not change habit progress or streaks.

Rewards

Each completed habit on a date earns 10 points. Repeated saves do not add credit. Low and Rescue completions count, and archived habit history is included. Badges track completion totals, consecutive active days and smaller-goal completions. Undoing progress recalculates points and badges.

Add a personal reward and its total-points threshold. When unlocked, press Celebrate reward to record it once. This is a personal milestone, not a purchase: points are not spent and have no cash value. Celebrated rewards stay recorded if later edits lower your points. Up to 50 personal rewards can be created; editing and removal are not available in this phase.

Focus Timer

Choose 1–120 minutes and optionally connect an active habit. Start focus, then Pause or Resume as needed. One timer runs per account. Refreshing restores the server-saved timer; closing the tab does not pause it. Once time reaches zero, press Save completed session. The server checks elapsed time and records completion once. Reset discards the session without credit.

The latest 30 completed sessions appear in history using the start-date time zone. A habit link is a label only: it does not complete a habit or earn reward points. There are no automatic breaks, sounds or background notifications in this phase. Open tabs may show stale state after another device changes a timer; reload to synchronize.

Accountability

Set a weekly commitment and a target of 1–7 days. Press I showed up today to record one self-reported check-in per local day; undo is available the same day. Weeks run Monday–Sunday in your chosen time zone. Editing a commitment retains that week’s check-ins. A new week needs a new commitment. Check-ins do not affect habits, rewards or focus history.

Buddy pairing is optional. Confirm the sharing notice, create an invite code and share it manually with your intended buddy. The code expires after 24 hours, works once and can be cancelled. Generating another code invalidates the old one. The recipient signs in to their own Loop account, agrees to the sharing notice and enters the code. Anyone holding the code can accept, so treat it as private. Only one buddy can be connected at a time.

Connected buddies see each other’s display name, current weekly commitment, target and total check-in days. Each follows their own local week. Journals, email, detailed habits and focus sessions are not shared. Disconnect stops access for both accounts, while retaining personal commitments; previously viewed information cannot be recalled. There are no automatic messages, chat, notifications or public leaderboards in this phase. Invitation actions are rate-limited.

Settings

Open Settings from the sidebar or your avatar. Save your display name to update the Home greeting and buddy name. Your sign-in email is shown read-only; email changes and verification are not enabled. Choose Sage or Dusk, a city time zone and 12- or 24-hour clock. Asia/Karachi is the default. Saved records keep their original dates when you change zones.

The reminder checkbox enables or disables Loop’s foreground habit reminders across your account. Browser notification permission is separate, per browser. Notifications still need Loop open; there is no email or background delivery. Reminder times use the selected city’s local clock regardless of display format.

Change password requires your current password and matching new passwords. A password change signs out other sessions on their next request. Sign out other sessions does the same without changing your password; this browser remains signed in. Security actions are rate-limited. Password recovery and email changes are not implemented.

Download my data exports your own records as JSON, including private journal content, but excludes password hashes, session secrets, invite codes and your buddy’s account data. Keep the file private. It is not a restore/import file. Account deletion remains a request to the site owner.

Levels and streak protection

Your level starts at 1 and increases every 100 points. Points and levels recalculate when completions are undone. In Habits, expand Protect yesterday’s streak for a missed daily or selected-weekday habit. One protection is available per account per calendar month, used according to today’s local month. It preserves that habit’s streak by skipping yesterday without adding a completed day, points, a badge or a Home activity streak day. Weekly quotas are not eligible. Protection cannot be undone.

Release scope

Home, Habits, Insights, Calendar, Journal, Rewards, Focus, Accountability and Settings are included. Hosting validation is required before public launch. Account creation and sign-in work without email verification in this build. Payments, administration and password recovery are not included in this release.

Open your home Open habits

Choose your appearance

Open Settings → Appearance & time. Choose Monochrome Grid, Athletic Minimalism, Futuristic Premium, Sage, or Dusk, then press Save preferences. The choice is saved to your account and applies across the portal. Monochrome Grid is the default. Your habits and progress stay the same when you switch.

Loop uses bundled iOS emoji images for a consistent appearance across devices. On small screens, use Menu to open navigation. Longer forms and lists scroll vertically so every control remains accessible.
